TDI projects throughout the Commonwealth are critical in elevating the economic, artistic, and cultural identities of Massachusetts’ Gateway Cities.

Working alongside partners from Salem to Springfield and Brockton to New Bedford, TDI has supported projects related to economic development, leadership, and equity in these important communities. This site and the accompanying documentation serve to highlight and celebrate that work and its impact while also providing a blueprint for additional Commonwealth Communities to envision and pursue similar initiatives.

The impacts of TDI projects go beyond benches and bike lanes.

TDI Projects fall into three impact-focused categories:

A “COMMUNITY-BASED IMPACT“ - This project enhances collective growth and instills a strong collaboration/partnership for local change that signifies healing, invites joy, communicates value, activates assets & people, and makes a powerful case for belonging within the community.

An “ECONOMIC-BASED IMPACT“ - This project impacted the actual place/environment with economic development through physical transformation of a storefront, emergence of a new business, and a place of engagement for community members and local patrons/consumers.

A “CULTURE-BASED IMPACT“ - This project impacts people, prioritizes cultural exposure across the community, creates leadership/stewardship on the ground and is very much engagement focused to establish social cohesion that influences change and progress.
